This month from the Democracy at Work Institute: California is moving forward with worker cooperative legislation, we've released three new publications and scheduled three new webinars, and we have posted materials and a video recording from our recent event in Denver. See below for more details!
On April 27, the California Assembly Banking and Finance Committee passed AB816, the "Worker Cooperative Corporation Law." The committee's approval marks the first major step toward passing a bill which will advance the creation of new businesses, create jobs, and empower California communities by creating an election for worker cooperatives under the existing Consumer Cooperative Corporation statute. Find more information about the bill on the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives website. Photo courtesy of the Sustainable Economies Law Center.
