Life Is Not About What You Get, It's What You Give
My Why on Giving Back through Retreat
New Monthly Support Group to Launch: Living with Loss

Leslie & Nina discuss the blissful details of the upcoming Wellness Retreat

It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since our last full day retreat. I'm looking forward to this more than words can express. With my dad's cemetery service next weekend and both of my parents being interred together, it is a symbolic closing chapter as caretaker for my parents since I was a young child. I'm in new territory I shift my focus towards my own future, but I will always have a deep desire to help others. It's ingrained within my soul and my heart because of how I grew up. Their lives and their stories, before I was born and as a part of their family, will forever be a deep part of who I am.

It means a lot to me to be able to give back to the retreat attendees the weekend after I pay my final respects to my parents.  Even when I've tried other lines of work to "pay the bills," and keep up with the rat race of corporate America, I am drawn towards my passion to give back to the community as a teacher, coach and through volunteer work. Sometimes I lose track of making time to volunteer. Retreats are one way that I like to offer a sanctuary for others to heal, to share their stories and renew their energy. During retreats, it's now about the profit by any means. My goal is simply to cover the costs of the practitioners, food and the space rental. The rest is about giving and offering community service to others.

On May 16th, I'll be giving back by co-hosting the retreat with Nina Stanger, offering healthy meals and valuable self-care tips during my workshop. We have a host of awesome local practitioners who will be guiding you through the rest. One more day to register and the full agenda is below.

Carderock Springs Community is a gorgeous setting for a retreat. When we aren't in sessions at their beautiful space, we'll be relaxing along the C & O Canal with Potomac Paddlesports. They have top-notch instructors who are fun and entertaining.  We'll get 2 & 1/2 hours on the water at the start of kayak season! The class is held in calm waters, ideal for all ages and levels.

Let's not forget about the food! I'll be prepping our meals, free of inflammatory ingredients, gluten free, soy free and dairy free. Vegetarian options will also be available. We have private access to several outdoor grills, a tennis court, a local trail for a 20-30 minute hike and park space.

We are partnered with more top-quality, local practitioners.
