Hi

This month, news on Children's Book Council and REAL awards shortlistings, tips and ideas for Children's Book Week, my mission to bring more children's book coverage to television and my interview with the world's bestselling author, James Patterson.

And writing. Always writing. Sometimes seven hours a day, sometimes one hour, but it's my constant companion.

I hope you're well and happy.

Tristan.

It's been a big month of awards announcements with the CBCAs, REAL children's choice awards and the ABIAs.

I was honoured to see TWO WOLVES shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year awards and the REAL awards and MY LIFE & OTHER STUFF I MADE UP shortlisted for the REALs. These awards are a powerful way to inspire conversation around children's literature and bring new readers to the books.

Check out the full shortlists by clicking the links above.
On Friday 8 May I was lucky enough to interview James Patterson (the world's bestselling writer) at a free schools event for 700 students at Parramatta Riverside Theatre. Author Martin Chatterton and I also presented lots of reading and writing inspiration to a super-enthusiastic crowd.

This week I write and 18-21 May, I'll be hosting Sydney Writers Fest Primary School Days with Jacquie Harvey, Leigh Hobbs, Andy Griffiths and Anthony Horowitz. Hope you make it along!
Book TV
I've been speaking about the awards shortlistings and getting kids reading and writing on TV over the past month, including The Daily EditionStudio 3NBN News and Kids' WB. TV is a valuable tool for bringing books to life and discovering new readers. Just click on the links to watch the clips.
