Innovative Access to Public Services (IAPS) News

Dear <<First Name>>,

Well done to those of you that were involved with delivering election services earlier this month; so many of you worked really hard to deliver excellent services to the electorate. The result of this month's elections are starting to sink in, and we in the public sector are starting to question what it will mean for our sector in the coming few years. iNetwork has been trying to influence national plans for local government digital delivery and it's worth reading Phil Swan's blog about the work the IAPS programme has been doing in the last month on this agenda.

The IAPS programme has had an epic month, delivering you six successful events since I wrote to you last month. Many thanks to those of you that attended one or more of those events in the last month. All iNetwork members can access the presentations to most of these events within this email. This month's IAPS network news contains the following: Regards,

NEWS

Political Push for Local Government Digital Service

MOVES are afoot to create a Local Government Digital Service similar to the Government Digital Service which is hosted by the Cabinet Office. iNetwork was invited to attend a summit at the Local Government Association alongside Chief Executives, CIOs, Policy and digital folk to think about what might be useful and to shape a response from the sector.

If you want to know more and to find out how you can get your thoughts, comments and opinions heard this blog written by Phil Swan is worth a read.

Go ON and Nominate

HURRY! There is only a day left to nominate for the I Made a Difference Awards that recognises successes in the provision of basic online skills.

The Go ON NW 'I Made a Difference' awards will be judged by Baroness Martha Lane Fox and BBC Breakfast's Steph McGovern amongst others.

IAPS In a Nutshell

What is IAPS? The Innovative Access to Public Services network is one of four main programmes delivered by iNetwork. The key purpose of the IAPS programme is: to enable local public services to be accessed in the most effective and joined up way. We do this by supporting public sector learning and sharing of innovation and best practice via events, organisational matchmaking, supporting thought leadership and lobbying. The proposed priority themes for IAPS in 2015-16 include:

(1) Digital Delivery (covering topics such as digital strategy, channel shift, process automation, data integration, web development, social media as a customer channel, mobile working, effective self-service etc.)

(2) Proactive and Preventative Public Service Delivery (covering topics such as customer insight & intelligence, open data, customer-led service design, demand management etc.)

(3) Community Leadership and Governance (Supporting and growing the strength and effectiveness of the Network Leadership Group to provide direction and leadership of the IAPS programme and community).

If you have any questions about the IAPS programme; feel free to get in touch with Shelley at shelley.heckman@tameside.gov.uk (Lead for the IAPS programme).
