News about all things Aqueductian

It's May again, which means that WisCon 39 is around the corner. This year we will be presenting three titles at the convention in Madison, WI. Read on for details and other exciting news, as well as information on the Aqueduct author readings that will be held at WisCon in May 22-25.

Forthcoming WisCon Releases

The Wiscon Chronicles vol. 9: Intersections and Alliances
edited by Mary Anne Mohanraj

“In this volume of the WisCon Chronicles, we find ourselves considering what it means to live at the intersections of various identities, some of them more privileged than others. We ask how we can function as good allies to each other in often challenging situations. We’re living through an intense time of social change, and a variety of questions arise as we have these often difficult conversations about feminism, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and more.”

Metamorphosis
Alaya Dawn Johnson
& Kim Stanley Robinson

Metamorphosis offers a taste of work from WisCon 39 Guests of Honor Alaya Dawn Johnson and Kim Stanley Robinson, as well as author interviews. In Johnson’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” the narrator, who regards humans (their brains, especially) as a primary food source, must cope with conflicting impulses when one of the most appetizing humans he’s ever met is also really, really hot.... Robinson’s “The Lunatics,” deprived of memories, toiling for their truncated lives deep below the surface, walk in the nerves of the moon, tearing out promethium under the lash of the foremen.

The crew of the interstellar ship Mercator is making valuable discoveries in the Doradoan region, but conflict is mounting between them and the inhabitants of the Earthlike-planet Cibola.

Xenologist Caty Sanjuro knows Cibolans can stop human settlements on their planet, but her superiors think she’s just gone native. Sundown, a Cibolan astronomer, is working to keep the resistance peaceful, but others see no reason for caution: they have successfully fought off invaders in the past. Despite the growing friendship between Sanjuro and Sundown, preventing war is looking more and more impossible.
Elysium, Locus Award nominee

Cover of ElysiumWe are very happy to announce that Jennifer Marie Brissett's Elyiusm has been named as a Locus Award finalist in the First Novel category. Winners will be announced during the Locus Awards Weekend in Seattle WA, in June.

We would like to congratulate all nominees; especially Jenn, for the continued recognition Elysium has been garnering since its release. For a taste of her work, you can read "A Song For You," her latest short story, online.
