Honoring SWU retirees

On May 12, SWU recognized the service of three long-time employees who are retiring (from left): Dr. Keith Connor, professor of physical education (1969-2015); Joan Crain, secretary for the Alumni Office (1996-2014); and Nancy Boone, accounts payable secretary (1981-1985, 1996-2015).

President Todd Voss congratulated Connor, Crain and Boone, and each received a SWU captain’s chair. Also, a portrait of Dr. Connor was unveiled.

Human Services alumni receive master’s degrees

TJ Rumler, Ann Simmons and John Faubert, all SWU human services students in the AGS program, graduated recently from USC with their master’s degrees in social work.
Rumler is a December ’11 AGS graduate, and Simmons and Faubert are December ’12 AGS graduates. All studied in the same Greenville cohort. Rumler and Faubert passed the state licensure exam by the National Association for Social Workers.

Another AGS human services student, Pam Poole (’11), received her master’s degree in counseling from Capella University. Also, Sgt. Lisa Williams (’12) of the Seneca Police Dept., received her master’s degree in criminal justice from Walden University. Johanna Harwood (’14), a student in one of the Greenville cohorts, received her master’s in human services from Liberty University.

Currently there are several human services alumni enrolled in master’s degree programs at SWU, as well as at North Greenville, Webster and Liberty universities.

Congratulations!

Cody Thomas, assistant director of marketing, earned his master of fine arts in web design and new media from the Academy of Art University. Thomas is a 2007 SWU graduate.

Vacations

For 12-month employees, remember that your vacation leave should be used by June 30, the end of our employment/fiscal year. Please work with your supervisor to schedule this time off. Research shows that employees and the organizations they work for benefit when earned vacation time is taken.  We all have to recharge so that we can return to work refreshed and reenergized!
