Hello Friends:

It was a wonderful weekend at Smalls and Mezzrow.  The weather was great and it was Memorial Day Weekend so Friday through Sunday was like one long Saturday night.  At Smalls Jason Brown's group really tore it up with the great Jerry Weldon holding court on the tenor sax.  This band had a real New York style feeling to it - hard driving swing, bebopping and just some joyful spirit.  At Mezzrow it was fun to have Ben Sidran come in with Alexis Cuadrado.  Ben sang and told tales to a delighted audience.  Both clubs were packed with happy patrons.  At Mezzrow we offer a pass to Smalls for anyone that pays a full cover, so folks were going back and forth between the two clubs.  We're trying to create our own little "52nd" street here and it seems to be working.

Great music ahead and now the weathers nice - come on out.  Hang out with us and have a drink.  I look forward to seeing you at the clubs.

Pianist Ray Gallon is a veteran of the New York jazz scene.  He's a consumate player in the be-bop tradition with a florid touch and sensibility.  He is also a beloved educatior.  With him is the solid David Wong on the bass.

Pianist Adam Birnbaum has rapidly risen to the top of the piano field in New York City.  He has an amazing technique and a true jazz feeling.  With him is the consumate and beloved Ben Street playing the bass.
