Dear friends of Omega,

Our 40th anniversary season may be coming to a close, but Omega is going to finish the year out with a bang (or at least a twirl or two)! Read on for information on three upcoming performances--two on Pentecost this Sunday, May 24, and a very special one on May 28.

Then make sure to check out the Earth Mass video created for our 40th anniversary celebration. How many dancers do you recognize?

We hope to see you soon, as always!

With blessings,
Becky, Katie, Martha, and Margaret

May Performances

Pentecost at St. Ignatius Loyola
Sunday, 5/24

TWO PERFORMANCES!
11am Wallace Hall Family Mass
(in hall beneath the church)
7:30pm Contemporary Mass
(in main church)

Send down the fire! Omega will present several pieces at two Pentecost masses, including a remounting of Carla De Sola's "Veni Sancte Spiritus." Various choreography will be augmented by our trademark "fire sleeves," and since this is the one day of the year we get to wear them, watch out--we plan to take St. Ignatius's words to heart and "set the world on fire" with our dancing!

St. Ignatius Loyola is located on Mahattan's Upper East Side at 84th St. and Park Ave. Map

Thank you for making our 40th anniversary memorable!
We celebrated 40 years of sacred dance on April 11, and what a day it was! Thank you to everyone who joined us for the workshop with Carla De Sola and the gathering at Uptown Restaurant--your presence meant a great deal to us! Make sure to check out the photos on Facebook from the workshop and party, as well as this video of the Earth Mass through the years that Martha Chapman so lovingly put together. Here's to four more decades of dancing in the spirit!

Couldn't make it on April 11 but want to help us celebrate? Consider making a donation in honor of Omega's 40th anniversary, here.
Omega History 101: Liturgical dance...it's not disco!
While going through archive materials, we recently came across this notice in a bulletin from St. Paul the Apostle in Manhattan where Carla began a dance ministry in 1979. We particularly love the second and third sentences--liturgical dance is indeed NOT disco!...But could it be? Sacred disco? Perhaps Omega has a new style to explore :-)
