Hatch Match in Hoboken,  TeleBrands Entrepreneurship Day in Montclair and NJTC IoT Conference in Newark

  • A mixed group of startup entrepreneurs and investors engaged in a frenetic five-minute speed dating event at NJ Tech Meetup's Hatch Match at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken Tuesday.

  • Several of the participants we spoke to were delighted by the reception their ideas got from the investors they met.
  • A star-studded TeleBrands Inventors Day for Aspiring Entrepreneurs in Montclair capped the year for entrepreneurship students at the Feliciano Center at Montclair State University.

  • The winner was an app called $4Scholars (Dollars for Scholars) which connects homeowners in communities to students in need of an income.
  • Hundreds filled the NJIT atrium on Thursday for the NJTC Internet of Things conference which featured some interesting talks by executives from AT&T and Panasonic about aspects of the Internet of Things.

  • An engineer from Sigma Designs who had been testing IoT devices on Mount Everest talked about the earthquake in Nepal that he escaped.
  • Some 15 entrepreneurs and students pitched their work in the area.
  • All the student entrepreneurs were honored.
  • Kentex (Landing), which has a multisensor solution for physical monitoring and security monitoring in the data center, won the sensors category.
  • Fusar (Jersey City), which makes connected motorcycle helmets, won the wearables category.
  • Vognition (Newark), which has a natural language voice control for remote connected devices, won first place in the apps category.
  • General Airbotics (Colmar, Pa.) won for its simple flying robot that is safe in proximity to people and objects.
