Greetings from the
Bipolar Disorder Society of BC
Find out what we have been up to!
The Bipolar Disorder Society of BC has been extremely busy running our programs successfully in Victoria and additional communities on Vancouver Island.
We presented to nearly 2000 youth in schools during the 2014/15 school year. We have presented to youth and community groups in Courtenay, Comox and now Nanaimo, and we have been very active in the Victoria community having presented to 1062 community participants for the fiscal year 2014/15.
As we approach the new school year, we have booked over 30 presentations in schools already and want to thank everyone for supporting and promoting the Stigma Stomp Classroom Presentations Program.
Our support groups have touched the lives of a number of youth and adults in the City of Victoria and the Westshore communities totaling 80 people being helped through peer support in the last year. We continue to provide accepting, understanding, and empathetic spaces for people living with a mental health condition.
Please have a look at the rest of our newsletter and particularly check out the Bipolar Youth Action Project, which is being conducted with CREST.BD, our community partner studying bipolar disorder in youth re: self management strategies, located at the University of British Columbia.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to connecting with you again soon and feel free to share our newsletter with your networks.
