In case you're not already convinced that peanut butter is one of the more amazing foods on the planet, here are some reasons food pantries need it so much.
- It's shelf stable protein. No dented cans mean it doesn't need to be discarded. Heat might make it gooey but doesn't mean it will ruin the food. Lunch box or car, it's ok.
- It's easy access food. Kids can make a sandwich after school. You don't need a working stove, microwave, or refrigerator to use peanut butter.
Our peanut butter stays in our area, going to emergency food boxes at Chandler Christian Community Center. People in need can go and get boxes once a month. Each box contains enough food for the entire household for three days. On almost every list the Center sends out, peanut butter is one of the most needed items.
Peanut Butter Sunday matters more than you realize. Bring a jar or two on the 17th.
