The Alcohol, Tobacco & other Drugs Council and Shelter TAS are calling for registrations of interest to attend this training event for housing/homelessness, AOD and other health/welfare workers in Tasmania. This half to one day training event responds to the issue of crystal methamphetamine (ice) use in Tasmania. Training will be held in Hobart and Devonport.

Due to strictly limited numbers and the need to prioritise attendance, we ask that you register your interest as soon as possible. Shelter TAS will keep a waiting list for those that miss this opportunity.
Training will be delivered in one morning session followed by two concurrent breakout sessions in the afternoon.
The morning session - Introduction to Ice, 9am-12:30pm - suitable for everyone
This workshop is an introductory session focusing on understanding methamphetamine users. Changes in patterns of use and user type, effect of methamphetamines on the brain, attitudes, harms and harm reduction will be covered.
Breakout 1 - suitable for new AOD workers, housing and homelessness workers, generalist health/welfare workers, mental health workers.
This workshop is an interactive skills based session. It will cover: managing complex behaviours related to methamphetamine use, strategies to assist users with emotion regulation, responding to intoxication and brief interventions. Participants are required to attend the morning session as a prerequisite. Please note Breakout 2 is for specialist AOD workers.
