THE OBSERVER - KNOWLEDGE IS MY WORLD!
The enneagram describes why we behave the way we do, and it points to specific directions for individual growth. It is an amazing tool for improving relationships with family, friends, and those you work with.
The roots of the enneagram go back many centuries. Its exact origin is not known, but it is believed to have been taught orally in the Middle East by Sufis. The Russian mystical teacher G I Gurdjieff introduced it to the west in the early 1900s
This week we are looking at the
number 5. If you notice that you like to sit back and observe, that you love getting your knowledge out of books or on-line, that you value being self-coutained, check this one out …
Number 5, the observers who are sensitive, wise and knowledgeable
Fives are motivated by a need to know and understand everything, and they most definitely want to avoid looking foolish or dumb. They are:
- Analytical
- Sensitive
- Objective
- Perceptive
- Perservering.
They like to stand back and view life objectively, coming to conclusions by thoroughly understanding what is at hand. Fives have a very strong sense of integrity, and like to stay free of material possessions and status
In their not so healthy state, they can be
- Intellectually arrogant
- Stingy
- Stubborn
- Critical
- And negative
For more information about being a five, and to do the test yourself to find out which of the 9 types you are most likely to be, go to this

Communication for Connection – based on the internationally successful principles of Nonviolent Communication or NVC.
In May we are having another Foundation Training in NVC facilitated by Filipa Hope. NVC as a practice is amazing – it is a whole new way of speaking that helps us to connect more deeply with ourselves and others so that we can all be living more true to ourselves. It can be a total gamechanger in families where communication can be difficult, as well as in the workplace and even on the international stage.
If you would like to learn a little more about NVC, there is a free one hour talk in
Palmerston North on the 7th May and in
Levin on Friday 8th May Click on the links to get the details or
email me to get more details. There will be a brief outline of what NVC is and some examples from people who have been learning this connecting form of communication for years.
If you would like to find out more details about the upcoming weekend of Foundation Training go to:
Communication for Connection

The following information is provided as first-aid help to alleviate the pain or discomfort of common dental emergencies. These recommended remedial measures are not intended to replace good dental care, but rather to function as a safe, and effective form of emergency and post-operative treatment.

- Gelsemium 12C: For dental fears that are accompanied by nausea, diarrhea, sleepy feeling or "weak knees."
Acute Dental Problems
- Arnica 30C For inflammation and trauma from routine dental procedures. Included in this category are post-operative swelling from injections, extraction of teeth, gum surgery, preparation of teeth, soreness following insertion of new full or partial dentures.
- Hypericum 12C: For nerve pain, post-operative surgery (tooth extraction or gum work), toothache, sore dentures, accidental facial trauma.

- Belladonna 6C For sudden onset of a gum or tooth abscess that is accompanied by redness, inflammation and throbbing which is aggravated by the slightest touch
- Ferrum Phos 6C For post-surgical bleeding following an extraction or gum surgery that is not controlled by pressure with a moist gauze pad.

- Silicea 6C: Used to enhance the drainage of pus

Teething

KALE CHIPS
Once you have tried these you will be planting kale hard out for a regular supply! Kale is one of those amazing vegetables that you pick off what you need, and the plant just keeps on growing. You can use it in salads, juices, stirfries, and of course, as chips …
Pick a good handful to make it worth your while making them. They melt in your mouth, and you just end up wanting more, so make sure you make enough.
Cut off the hard stems. Wash and DRY thoroughly. It is important that there is no water left on the leaves – dry with a towel if needed.
Break into small bite sized portions.
Mix 2 tbsp oil, 1 tsp salt, and any other flavourings you might like – a little chilli, a tsp lime juice or vinegar, vege salt, etc
Massage the kale with the oil mixture, lay out the pieces of kale so they aren’t overlapping, and dry out till crisp in a very low oven (40C) or dehydrator. For a quicker version put the oven up to 150C. They will no longer be raw, but still delicious, and a quick and easy snack to prepare.
Enjoy!!
