Trail News & Information

Spence Mountain Trail Project

Thanks to the generous donors, great community support and a recent grant from the Klamath County Tourism large grant program, Phase II at Spence Mountain is underway!
The goal for this year is to complete six more miles of trail, bringing our total trail lenth to nine miles.
Phase I included three miles of professionally built single track from the trailhead just off Highway 140 to the top of the ridge. Now Phase II picks up where Phase I left off. It continues along the ridge to the summit of Spence Mountain, then it makes its way back down to the trailhead, dropping 1,500 vertical feet on a fun, fast and flowing "new-school" trail.
Trail construction started May 4, will continue through May and finish this fall.
The KTA also hopes to complete the trailhead this summer. Adkins Engineering finished designing the highway approach and parking lot. Plans were submitted to ODOT in April. After approval we will gravel the parking lot and asphalt the highway approach. KTA plans to install a nice kiosk next month.
