Response to the earthquake in Nepal

Cholera is an intestinal infection caused by the Vibrio cholerae bacteria. The main symptoms of this disease are diarrhea and vomiting. Transmission of cholera primarily occurs through the consumption of contaminated food or drinking water. It is know that after an earthquake the prevalence of cholera and other water-borne diseases grows exponentially. Nepal has documented cholera cases stretching back to 1823, mostly during the rainy season, which begins in few weeks.
SAWBO has developed the educational animation Cholera Prevention in Nepali (accent from Nepal) in order to help as many people as we can in Nepal. Please, feel free to share this animation with all the people may need it.

New Animations in Our Video Library

Today we have around 408 different animations in our Video Library, with 44 different topics, in more than 70 variant languages. Here are the latest releases:

Sickle Cell Disease in English (accent from USA). This animation addresses the pain of Sickle Cell disease and how clinicians should handle Sickle Cell patients. The pain of Sickle Cell Disease is very real. Sickle Cell vaso-occlusive pain is more severe than most of the other pain conditions encountered in the Emergency Department. However, it is very important to know that the facial expression of a Sickle Cell patient is not a reliable indicator of pain, which is addressed in our animation.

We now have some animations available in three more languages. Check their playlists: SAWBO in Bengali from India, in Bahasa from Indonesia and in Lingala from DR Congo. Be on the lookout for future updates with new animations!

Have you ever seen the animation "How to wash your hands?" Hand washing is the first line of defense against diseases and infections.  Now we have added to its playlist with 4 more languages: How To Wash Your Hands in Catalan (accent from Spain)in Themne (accent from Sierra Leone)in Dutch (accent from Netherlands) and in Spanish (accent from Spain).

We keep adding to the number of voice-overs for the Ebola Prevention animation. The latest ones that we have added are Ebola Prevention in Kono (accent from Sierra Leone) and in Fante (accent from Ghana).

Remember, if you want to have the animation available on your phone and share it with other people even when you are offline, just visit our website and download the animation onto your device.

We Are Working On It

These are some of the projects we are working on and that will be available soon in our Video Library. Please help us work faster and reach our goals. A donation of any size is greatly appreciated, goes a long way towards ensuring the completion of these projects.

Colorectal Cancer Screening

Colorectal cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells in the colon or rectum divide uncontrollably, ultimately forming a malignant tumor. Early stage colorectal cancer has no symptoms, but it is when you want to catch the disease since it is highly curable when discovered early. Screening can prevent the cancer from forming or delay the onset, which is what this project will educate viewers about.

Ebola Spread and Ebola Infection in 2D

After publishing the first animation, Ebola Symptoms 2D, we are doing further work on others that explain the spread and the infection of the disease.  These animations will be added to our Ebola series of videos.

The Jerrycan Method for Proper Bean Storage

In this next animation we will explain you how to store your beans using the technique of airtight jerrycan. By following this method, you can prevent insect damage to your beans after harvest.
