This workshop will be led by Julie Nelson, Director of the Government Alliance on Race and Equity. Nelson will highlight key strategies for advancing racial equity for the public sector as an employer. Participants will have opportunities to strategize with colleagues about policies and practices that can help to increase workforce equity. While she was Director of the Seattle Office for Civil Rights, Nelson co-chaired the Race and Social Justice Initiative Workforce Equity Team inside government, and she also co-chaired Mayor McGinn’s Gender Equity in Pay Task Force. She brings a wealth of hands-on practical experience, as well as current research on the topic.
