Exploring the "Missing Middle"
More than just multifamily housing, the "missing middle" (e.g., duplexes, triplexes, townhouses, etc.) can also provide affordable solutions for middle class families. HousingWorks and the Urban Land Institute Austin are exploring strategies that will bring more of these diverse housing options to Austin. Expect a final report at a breakfast discussion on May 27.  ADUs in ATX
Last year, the Austin City Council resolved to clear the way for more ADUs, or accessory dwelling units, to be built in the city. The issue remains stalled as questions remain about whether the secondary homes on properties would provide more affordable housing.
