Infrastructure Updates!

Trans-Canada Trail Closure at Atkinson Rd.

The Trans-Canada Trail between Atkinson Road and Chandler Crescent will be closed for a bridge inspection from Thursday, May 21 to Friday, May 22.  The only alternate route is a fairly busy one using Atkinson Road to Parkhill Road to Chandler Crescent.  Please plan your cycling trips this week accordingly.  Call Otonabee Conservation for further information.

Trans-Canada Trail Link Closure at Parkhill Rd.

The link to the Trans-Canada Trail to Parkhill Road by Ravenwood Drive will be closing due to major construction in the vicinity for the summer beginning on Monday, May 25.  The trail can be accessed from Chandler Crescent, which involves climbing a large hill, or using Weller Street as an alternate route.  This project is for the reconstruction of Parkhill Road which will result in a more cycling and walking friendly street once completed.

Rotary Greenway Trail Construction, Summer 2015

Construction of an extension of the Rotary Greenway Trail is planned for this summer.  The new section of trail will run along the east side of Nassau Mills Road between the rowing club and Gzoski College, reducing the length of the gap in this popular trail substantially.  Once this section is completed this summer, the missing section of trail will be reduced to between Gzoski College at Trent University and the trail to Lakefield.  This section will be completed as budget allows.

Public Information Centre for Cycling and Ped Infrastructure from Del Crary Park to Haggart Street

An open house is planned for Thursday, June 4 from 4-7 pm at the library to present the planned concept for a pedestrian and cycling route from Del Crary Park to Haggart Street.  The proposed concept includes: one-waying Crescent Street; a 2 m pedestrian only trail; and a two-way cycling lane.

This section of waterfront trail is expected to have high volumes of pedestrians and cyclists and separating these two users will create a higher quality experience for both.  Information will be provided on the City's website closer to the meeting date.
