Hello <<First Name>>!  Best of luck to all associate members making their final state visits this summer!  The All 50 finish line is ready for you!

In this issue you'll find
"It is probably a pity that every citizen of each state cannot visit all the others, to see the differences, to learn what we have in common, and come back with a richer, fuller understanding of America - in all its beauty, in all its dignity, in all its strength, in support of moral principles."

Most of our members see the USA using a variety of transportation modes - by car, by plane, by train, by RV, by bus. George Babanis, our newest record holder, went to all 48 states by Greyhound bus! Congratulations to him on completing his journey. More record holders...
Congrats to Peter Tracey who ran at least 20 minutes in each state. He definitely met the All Fifty Club guideline of "setting foot on the ground and breathing the air" to count each state he visited! He started in Pennsylvania on December 8, 1983 and finished in Alaska on his 50th birthday, June 4, 2010.
Tian Deng made his 50th state visit to Arkansas having visited all 50 in 5.5 years. Tian came to the USA as a graduate student and has been living in New York City. His favorite state was Alaska with its"unbelievable natural beauty". Seattle is another favorite with its "modern urban skyline with astonishing natural scenery of the Pacific coastline and Mt. Rainier."

Congratulations to Pamela Gillespie who finished up in Hawaii last month. Her last states are some of the hardest to get to: Hawaii, Alaska, North Dakota and Kansas.

Crater Lake, Oregon
Nicholas Ryan crossed the state line into Georgia to complete all 50 by the age of 25 last month. One of his favorites is the breathtaking Crater Lake, Oregon. It is not near a major airport but bet that most would argue it is worth making the effort to get there. More Travel Goal Getter USA Favorites

The Lighter Side of Travel...Pronunciation Problems
A classic knee-slapper travel joke:  A man and his wife were driving their RV across the country and were nearing Worcester, Massachusetts. They weren't sure how to pronounce it - WOR -cess-ter? WORCE-ster?  The couple debated as they drove into the town to get a bite to eat. At the counter, the man said to the server, "My wife and I can't seem to be able to figure out how to pronounce this place. Will you tell me where we are and say it very slowly so that I can understand." The woman looked at him and said: "Buuurrrgerrr Kiiiinnnng.". Get a laugh with some more Lighter Side of Travel chuckles!.

Other hard to pronounce or silly city names....Boring, Oregon, Hell, Michigan

Travel Trip - Capture the Card
Take photos of more than just the sights! Having photos of your license, passport, credit card, medical card and other important wallet items will make it easier in the unfortunate event of  losing your wallet.Take a picture of where you park the car at the airport. For families going to a busy place like Disneyland. Snap a photo at the beginning of each day of each child. If someone gets lost, the photo will help staff help you find them. Plus, telling the kids why you are taking the picture makes them more likely to stick with you!
