Suwannee County Makes Commitment to Business Growth

The Suwannee Board of County Commissioners has launched two powerful initiatives to make it even more attractive for businesses to locate, expand or move into the north Florida county touted as “Florida’s New Frontier.”

The commission recently voted to approve the Suwannee County Business Incentive Program as well as the creation of a formalized Suwannee County Department of Economic Development.

The Suwannee County Business Incentive Program authorizes the commission to make performance-based grants to both existing and new businesses desiring to expand or locate within the county, as well as companies that wish to develop speculative space for industrial and office projects.

For more information about the Suwannee County Department of Economic Development or to apply for a grant through the Suwannee County Business Incentive Program, visit: www.floridasnewfrontier.com

This is a rapidly-growing area just south of downtown that is central to the city’s banking culture—and, increasingly, its culture at large.

Charlotte County's Economy Is On The Upswing

By every measurable indicator, Charlotte County's economy is on the upswing. A 4,000-acre economic enterprise zone around the airport park, designated and approved for light industrial development, will be home to a new distribution center and regional warehouse for food distribution giant Cheney Brothers. The nearly 350,000-square foot facility is on track to be completed this fall and will add more than 300 jobs.

Lucienne Pears, the business recruitment supervisor for Charlotte County, said several other manufacturing companies have expressed interest in the development-friendly airport enterprise zone, which was created in order to help diversify the county's economy and expand it beyond travel and real estate.
