CATSPAN'S BARN CAT RELOCATION PROGRAM
Many of you may have heard about our relocation of 32 feral cats from an area in Nanoose to a rural property in Oceanside.

Here is a picture of the beautiful rural property and two of our transition units.

Thank you to everyone who donated money towards the process and especially to the property owners who invited the relocated cats to stay.

Thank you to Bosley's North Nanaimo for their continued support.

CatSpan received a cheque from them for just over $1280 from their Pet Appreciation Month in April, plus an additional $300 worth of cat food and other goodies.
A big thank you to Black Cat Stitches who donated numerous cat bow ties to benefit CatSpan this spring, and thank you to Bosley's in Parksville for selling them!  Corrie (left) and Rocco (right) are showing off their new bow ties in the pictures above.
In March, CatSpan unveiled a new fundraising campaign, the "Five Dollar Friday" which encourages people to donate $5 (or the amount of their choice) on the last Friday of each month.  To date, CatSpan has received $295 for the campaign.  Thank you to everyone who has donated!  We'll put the call out on Facebook on the last Friday of the month, but you can donate anytime to our CanadaHelps page by clicking here.

Lost your cat? Here are some useful resources:

CatSpan is often contacted to help caregivers with their search for a lost cat.  There are two websites that are very handy when searching for a lost cat.  It's also a good idea to check with the local SPCA to see if your cat has been turned in.

Find Lost and Escaped Cats (FLEC)

FLEC is an off-shoot of FLED (Find Lost and Escaped Dogs), a Vancouver Island-specific website dedicated to reunited lost dogs with their caregivers.  FLEC is a Facebook-based collection of lost and found cats.  To post a picture and description of your lost cat, go to the FLED website and enter the information and upload a photograph.  From there, the wonderful people will create a post on FLEC.

Cats in the Bag Website

Cats in the Bag.com lists some key steps in finding your lost cats under their General Search Tips, then more specialized search tips for indoor-only cats and shy cats.  The website also reminds us that "…with knowledge, persistence, and proper techniques MANY cats can be found."

The next CatSpan cat food drive will be held in July - dates to be announced!
