We wish to advise you of some important work which is to be done on our servers this weekend.
Just like your computer, our servers need to be rebooted once in a while too. Even though everything seems to be running fine, there could be issues in the future if we do not perform some system maintenance now.
Two of our servers have not been rebooted in over 400 days! This is some serious positive uptime!
DMG Web 01 - 202.60.81.148 - 424 days
DMG Web 03 - 118.127.32.245 - 485 days
Whilst this performance is exceptional and impressive, we must have these machines rebooted and file and system checked because this can cause degradation of services and possibly prevent vital updates from being applied.
Description of Service
Our server support team strongly recommends to restart the servers, which will then mandate a filesystem check upon reboot. The file system check could take anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour depending on how degraded the file system is.
To minimise inconvenience to all, even us, we have scheduled these machines to be rebooted in the middle of the night over the weekend.
Scheduled Time of Service: 1.00am on 24th May 2015 (Sunday early morning)
Anticipated Outage Time: 30 to 60 minutes
Note: There may be several interruptions for 2-3 hours from 1am however we will attempt to keep these at a minimum.
We apologise in advance for the interruption, but we're sure we'll all benefit in the longer term from this service window.
