Hi Moms and Dads

Welcome back to another week. We hope you all had a relaxing weekend. The gorgeous photos that Debbie took a few weeks ago are now ready. All orders are in the office. Please fetch them from Jane during the morning.
 
Next week is ‘Child Protection  Week.’ Lisa will be doing some special activities with the children during their morning rings!
 
We will also be selling stickers in aid of LOFOB next week. (League of friends of the blind) The stickers are R10 each. Please support this worthly cause. R10 can be given to your child’s teacher and they will hand out the stickers to the children on Friday morning during their morning ring.  

ART AUCTION

Date - Friday, 29th May 2015
Time - 6:30 / 7 pm
Venue - Fish Hoek Sailing Club, Fish Hoek Beach (Cash Bar available managed by the Sailing Club)
Cost - R20 per ticket Tickets are available at the office which gets you a night of fun with a world class hypnotist & comedian - Alan Marriott, entry into lots of awesome lucky draws and snacks.
Entertainment & Auctioneer - Alan Marriot 
What to bring- lots of MONEY to bid for all the amazing artwork your children have created! Each Class has made +- 4 BIG items to be auctioned on the evening. Each child has made an individual art item, which will be displayed on the evening and sold at a minimal price (R25 - R50). Cash and EFT accepted.
DON'T FORGET TO BOOK YOUR BABYSITTERS ! 

CLASS REP WORK GROUP NEEDS

Thank you!! Work has started in the Fairy garden. Please watch this space for more information on what’s needed. The work party is still scheduled for Saturday 13th June 9am-1pm. All prep work is being done now so that the day of the work party can run smoothly.
FOOD FOR A FRIEND
Cathy is looking for more moms or dads to offer to make soup to take to Masi on a Thursday, Please contact her for more details. Please contact Cathy on 084 6563712.
We will continue to collect  tinned food, fruit as well as soup ingredients. Please put them in the black bucket at the entrance to the school. Please support this initiative each week. 

Important

Thank you to those who consciously make an effort to close the gate on entering and leaving the school. We have seen an improvement. Please continue to be aware of the gate at all times and please make sure it is closed.
Also Please do not park in the small road in front of Paul Greyling’s gate, as it blocks their access!!

The new photo app can be downloaded from Google play store. Download our user friendly Educomm mobile application and stay connected with your child’s teacher and the school. At this point it is only available on ‘android.’ We are waiting on ‘Apple’ approval.

26th June- Last Day of the 2nd Term ( Dad’s Day and Sausage Braai )

Fathers are invited to join us at school from 8am - 10.30am, to participate in morning ring and art and garden activities. It's a wonderful opportunity to see what we do at school with your child. We ask too that you help us braai sausage that we then share at snack time.
Please diarise and take the morning off to celebrate the huge role you play in the children's lives!
NOTE BOOKS/DIARIES
We have been given a donation of beautiful diaries that we would like to sell, to raise funds for our school as well as Rainbow Educare in Masi. I will have a table out on Wednesday and Thursday, to show you what they look like!
We have printed the school logo onto the front and they look awesome!!! Please have a look at them, they will be on sale,
R50 for the small one and R80 for the bigger one.

Skills to practice:  Identifying numerals on number plates, houses or in the shops. Numbers and sets that are equal and more or less.
Sharks Pyjama Day Friday 22 May. We are to have a pyjama day on Friday. The children need to wear pjs to school and bring a cuddly toy and if possible a board game. Please send a change of clothing for after care.
We've enjoyed working on the items for the art auction and should finish them this week.

EQ:  Keeping calm
IQ:  The Seasons
Focus: Spatial Awareness
Number Concepts:  Number 8
We continue to discuss “Keeping Calm” and “The Seasons” this week.  We have been practising different breathing exercises to keep calm.
Please remember our outing on Thursday.  Please take note of the change of venue, as the Arboretum is closed for 6 to 24 months due to the fires.  We will now be walking at the Lower Tokai Plantation.  Please see the notice board for details.  Children to wear class t-shirt and only 1 treat allowed.  Please continue to play games with your children involving spatial concepts like; next to, in front of, behind, on top, above etc. We have been playing “Go Fish” and “Snakes and Ladders” over the last week.  I encourage you to play these kinds of games with your children.  It teaches them so many important skills. 
Please remember to diarise Friday 29 May for our “Art Auction”.  Our class has made a beautiful table cloth, mosaic and each child has worked very hard on an individual art.  Look forward to seeing you all there.  Home visits begin on Saturday 6 June if you would like Cheryl and myself to visit your child in their home environment.  See our notice board for more details.

EQ theme: Keeping calm and overcoming feelings of anger
Focus: Visual perception.
Hello! Hope everyone had a peaceful weekend. Please check our notice boards and Angelfish pockets on a daily basis. A reminder about our outing on Thurs 21. We are still needing some lifts.
PLEASE! Children are not allowed to bring toys to school except for a Fri when it is show&tell. Books are fine but toys are not allowed!!
The Angelfish will be having a market day on Friday the 22nd,the rest of the school may bring R5 for 2 items.
TIPS FOR PARENTS: Copying-Any task that requires copying either construction or a picture of a construction. Sorting-Encourage child to sort objects by colour,size or shape.
 Puzzles- Encourage children to complete their own puzzle by identifying different pieces by looking at the colours and shapes.

Hi everybody.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. This week we will be doing our last bits of art for the auction next week. A special Thank you to Skyla and Liam's moms who came in last Wednesday and assist the children with their individual art. This will be available on the night of the auction for you to buy.
Our theme this week is Wild Animals again. Please remember that we have show and tell on Fridays. No toys allowed during the week please.

Dolphins

Dear Dolphin parents,.
Our EQ lesson this week is to learn that we need to respect each other and that we all have feelings that make us feel happy, sad and angry.
Our theme is Senses ' taste and smell' Definitely a baking week at school.
Moms when baking at home with your child let them experience the breaking of the eggs and pouring in the flour and milk and then mixing. Dont forget they need to help you tidy and wash after they have licked the bowl.
Show and tell on Wednesday.

Hello everyone, hope you had a lovely weekend.
 Special thanks to the school, colleagues and Rainbow parents for making my day on Friday.
It is child protection week so we will be focusing on child safety. Make sure that you and people around your child make your child's safety a priority all times in every way. Chat to your child about who they can trust and talk to about anything.
If you can please pack a pair of spare socks.

SPARE CLOTHES
Please remember to pack in some spare clothes for your child each day, particularly the younger ones. The children often need to change for various reasons and it becomes a little tricky when there is nothing for them to wear!!!
