SBCC Celebrates CycleMAYnia!
As we continue our work to implement SBCC's sustainable transportation program, we were excited to participate in SBCC Commute's CycleMAYnia on May 6th, 2015. Our very own Perrin Pellegrin was able to pedal a bicycle in order to blend a smoothy (above image). What a great day and an effective showcase of SBCC's handwork and commitment to get students and faculty out of their cars and onto their bicycles (or other forms of sustainable transportation).
In honor of National Bike Month, CycleMAYnia was SBCC's way of celebration bike-to-school day. Festivities included a free pancake breakfast in appreciation of all who bike to campus, rockin' music and prizes by Phat J or 92.9 FM KJEE, and highlights of the SBCC Commute program, which currently has over 100 active participants.
Check out the new SBCC Commute website for more great information on all the campus has done.

Launch of Operation Eco Schools
In collaboration with SynEnergy, LLC, iWORKSHOP launched our new program, Operation Eco Schools, with the purpose of greening K-12 institutions and establishing hands on activities that can be implemented into existing curriculum. Our first course, Mission Energy Efficiency, aims to encourage students to investigate their school's energy consumption and make informed recommendations to teachers and administration about strategies for reducing overall load. Led by Tiffany Beffel, Operation Eco Schools: Mission Energy Efficiency was implemented into curriculum at Ben Franklin Academy in Colorado. Through this implementation, baseline data was collected in office spaces and classrooms using daylight meters and Kill-A-Watt meters and tracking tools were created to allow for continued monitoring and improvement. We are very excited to announce that Operation Eco Schools: Mission Energy Efficiency has been showcased at the 2015 Innovation and Inclusivity in STEM Conference and the 2015 Colorado's Advancing Environmental Education Conference.
