FBYC Winter Series
Some of our best sailing conditions happen over winter. Dates for FBYC's winter series are now on the FBYC Calendar and on the website The alternate date will be sailed if bad weather prevents the first series date being sailed.
Please note that FBYC are hosting the Opti/Starling Sprint Regatta on June 20th - we'll need all hands on deck to make sure this runs smoothly, please contact Jeff if you can assist in any capacity or are intending to race your Starling or Opti.
Fees and guidelines for Winter Sailing:
- Saturday- Coaching / Training – this is for the less experienced sailors (juniors, youth, adults) FBYC will supply at least one youth coach and a responsible experienced adult to make the risk calls. Participants need to confirm attendance the week before to allow arrangements to be made. A fee of $20 applies to cover coach and rescue cover costs.
- Sunday Winter Sailing – only for experienced sailors! A single RIB cover may be all that is needed (depending on conditions) dropping two marks and doing informal windward leeward short course racing with minimal formality. A fee of $10 will apply.

Race Coach course completed!
Joe, Logan, Hamish, Megan, Anton, Jake, and Oliver completed a two day training session at FBYC last weekend for their YNZ Race Coach certification.
This is to be followed up with a lesson plan video over winter.
Awesome to see our coaches taking the next step and it will put the Club in good stead for next season for the further development of our green fleet and regatta squads. More on the YNZ coaching pathway here
