Commencement is behind us, signaling the unofficial start to the summer season for the UW–Madison community. With warmer weather ahead, here are some of our favorite places to visit to get outside and enjoy all that Madison has to offer in the summer.

Group registration open for energy MOOC
The UW–Madison Office of Sustainability is organizing weekly one-hour facilitated discussion sessions for participants in the "Energy and the Earth" massive open online course to enhance engagement with the material. Participation is free and open to any campus community member. Groups begin the week of June 22.

Brazilian beef industry works to reduce rain forest destruction
Expansion of cattle pastures has led to the destruction of huge swaths of rain forest in Brazil. A new UW-led study shows that market-driven "zero deforestation agreements" have influenced the behavior of ranchers and the slaughterhouses to which they sell.

Greenbush housing renovation program available
A new program to help people buy and renovate homes in the Greenbush Neighborhood, co-sponsored by UW–Madison, offers funding to potential homeowners who will restore a rental property and live in the home. An open house will be held Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at HotelRED.

Sharefest: Celebrating a Sharing Economy
