TORONTO (13 May 2015) – Mixed Company Theatre (MCT) invites you to enjoy the satisfaction that comes from connecting with other generations through their show Our Voices, Our Selves. The production will have a public dress rehearsal on June 2 before being performed as part of Ryerson University’s 50+ Festival which runs June 1-4.

This production is part of Mixed Company Theatre’s interGEN Project, bringing together multi-generational groups to create shows on various themes. Working in partnership with Scadding Court Community Centre and Aiding Dramatic Change in Development, Our Voices, Our Selves engages the local Mandarin community in addressing the themes of isolation and aging. The final product is a presentation created by a wonderful group of culturally diverse older adults showcasing their stories, realities and concerns of being a senior in a vast and often alienating city.

This community arts presentation will offer a space for you - our audience - to share your stories about aging and discover together how we can better connect with our community.

Participants in the interGEN Project often identify the rewarding connection they create with others they might never otherwise know as a highlight of the experience. Said one participant, “I especially appreciated the opportunity both engage with the youth "on stage" and to speak informally with them. I discovered that we share a great deal in common though over half a century separates us in years.” Said a younger participant, of the process, “By doing the exercises with the community members, I started feeling closer to them. We were slowly building trust towards each other.”
