Name the Noyes Owl

When Noyes recently got a fresh coat of exterior paint, the carved wise owl who has lived above the doorway for 122 years was flown down for transformation. Kensington artist Gloria Capron expertly livened up the feathered friend.

Read-a-thon Raises the Roof (and Funds for Noyes Renovations)

Young readers throughout the area participated in the Pennies-a-Page Read-a-thon to help raise money for the Make MORE Noyes Campaign. Together they read more than 15,000 pages and collected more than $1,000 from their sponsors during three weeks in April. The readers joined other friends of Noyes to celebrate their success at a family dance party at Kensington Town Hall on April 25. Participants who haven't yet turned in donations can bring them to Noyes Library.

Spotlight: Susan Stockdale

Chevy Chase resident Susan Stockdale's books about animals are known for their bold, colorful illustrations, vivid rhymes, and scientific accuracy. Her books are displayed at Gala Artisans Jewelry and Gifts in downtown Kensington.

Stockdale has just written her seventh picture book, Spectacular Spots, which explores familiar and exotic animals with spots and why they have them. Check out Stockdale's books at Noyes and other Montgomery County Public Libraries. Read more about Stockdale on the Foundation's website.

Volunteer With Us!

The Noyes Children's Library Foundation is an all-volunteer nonprofit that works to support Noyes, a little library with a big purpose. We're looking to expand our Board and our volunteer base. Now's the time to be part of the next chapter!

Contact us to get involved. Sponsorships from businesses are also important to the Foundation. Kensington accounting firm Dyer & Associates, P.C., recently supported the Foundation through pro bono tax work. Consider ways for your business to get involved.

Noyes in the News!

Montgomery Magazine recently featured Noyes Library in its County Lines section. Read the article on page 16 of the April/May issue.
