Need inspiring, fun, relevant literature for children and young people? Dernier Publishing is well worth a look. They have a variety of titles for the 8-16 age range. The stories are told with a Christian worldview and have received some excellent reviews.

The latest title, from Weymouth-based author Mary Millard Weeks, has already been used successfully by a number of schools in the area. ‘A Pennyworth of Peppermints’ is a spy story set in WW1.
Ben and Sidney find a message in a bottle washed up on a beach. The message is written in rhyme - is it just a poem? Through a series of thrilling adventures, the boys, along with Sidney's sister, Vera, discover that there is much more to the message than meets the eye. This delightful story captures a little of what life was like for families at the time, and how faith in God can make a difference, whatever the circumstances.

Love Easter? Love musicals?
Sheila Wilson (‘Hosanna Rock!’) has a great range of Easter musicals for KS1 & 2, which teach the real, inspirational message of Easter. The songs are catchy and poignant, and end with joyful, hand-jiving, celebrations which children - and parents - love! Backing tracks make them easy to sing in assemblies, as a service with Bible readings between, or as an engaging musical with the versatile, simple plays. They’re also ideal to perform in the local church, or for a joint-schools Easter event.
Find the whole range at www.redheadmusic.co.uk, where you can also listen to extracts. Email Sheila for advice or book her to teach the songs! See her recommendations below.
