This Winter was very stingy out west, but for winter lovers in the northeast it was one of the best in memory. We are hoping for a bit more of a balance next year.

Late season we had some great skiing in BC, with a group of us going to Powder Creek Lodge. As usual we had some excellent skiing (testing)….. We had a variety of skier types in the group, AT, Tele, and Hoksters. The Hoks held there own, especially on the final powder days. All of us (six or seven) that used Hoks from time to time during the week used a single pole or tiak. The tiak eliminates the main disadvantage of short skis for downhill skiing - fore/aft stability. We highly recommended you try one if you do much downhill skiing on the Hoks.

Joe Talbert and Nils testing the Kōm 174cm. on Washington Pass

On April 15th Joe and I made a quick trip up to Washington Pass. Cold weather and snow the previous few days held the promise of some powder skiing. We had a beautiful windy cold day with excellent snow up high. We traded off between a pair of 162cm and 174cm Kōms. The area is spectacular and offers some of the best late season pass skiing in the US.

The no wax pattern climbs  well, particularly in warm snows. We used skins for the steeper climbs, and we are working on a custom skin that will be available as and add on for the Kōms.

The molds are set for both the 174cm and the 150 cm Kōms and they will be in stock in early fall. This will be made in Rimouski, Quebec.
