PE News
We hope that your child had a great time at our Hero Up Field Day! I saw some great sportsmanship, a ton of excitement and action, and quite a few smiles! Thanks so much for all the donations for our morning break station and for letting us borrow coolers and ice chests! Clif Kids donated snack bars for the break station as well, so thank you Clif bars and Jessica Casey!

A big thanks goes out to everyone who helped run stations: our amazing 5th grade helpers, Coach Woodward, Mrs. Harris, Ms. Cavender, Ms. Worsham, Mrs. Richey, Mrs. Menn, Tina Stogdill, Sandy Cumming, Alexa Keller, Thanh Tran, Sarah Allen, Thuy Nguyen, and two of our former Summitt students, Michael Onuoha and Khalil Easley. Y'all rock!

Lastly, I would like to thank our Summitt custodians, teachers and families for being so supportive… especially Mrs. Heather Fleming who always has something up her sleeve to make sure the 5th graders have a day they will never forget! Thanks again for cheering on your children and their classmates, donating items or even just making sure they came to school prepared for such a wildly active day! I appreciate it and have a wonderful Summer break, Summitt Eagles :)

PTA news
The Summitt PTA would like to thank all of our members, volunteers, and financial contributors for this year. Your hard work, time, and donations have ensured that our students could go on field trips, that our teachers received reimbursement for $75 worth of supplies and were provided with appreciation luncheons, that support for the library and front office was provided, and that our beloved technology teacher Ms. Neill received her salary. This year we were also able to get the new electronic sign up and running, completely funded by and provided for the school by the PTA.

Special thanks to Priscilla Vrana, Jill Maxfield, and Lisa Fischer for their hard work on Fall Fest, to Lacey Lake and Katie Foshea for revamping Spring Fling, to Nicole Erikson, Amy Pederson, Jana Bermudez, Ginger Garana, Karla Kreitler, Lisa Domzalski, Lynn Anderton, Diana George, Shannon Sullivan, Thanh Tran, Gina Panza, Amy Carr, Amanda Greene, Kynna Sullivan, Jessica Pedemonte, Julia Fannin, and all the other parent and teacher volunteers who have been part of this awesome organization this year. We look forward to seeing you August 20 for Meet The Teacher 2015! - Courtney Cardosa, Summitt PTA President

Library News
I wanted to take a minute to thank all the wonderful students, families and teachers who have supported the library this past year. I am so fortunate to do the job I do, and I appreciate the myriad ways you all show your support--from cards to gifts to baked goods to smiles and hellos in the hall. Whether you helped financially or with your time and talent or just with your good vibes--thank you! I look forward to serving you all again in the fall. Have a great summer!

Headed out of the country? On a cruise? Or, even just to grandma's house? Send Mrs. Richey a postcard this summer, and tell her all about your exciting summer at:

Denise Richey
c/o Summitt Elementary Library
12207 Brigadoon Lane
Austin, TX 78727

Don’t forget to sign your name on the card. All postcards will be displayed in the library!

And, remember, wherever you may or may not be headed this summer, make sure to fit some reading time into your summer schedule. Reading even one book a week can be so helpful in fighting against that summer slide! See ideas for reading programs going on all around town. Including this great one from Book People here. Information on the Austin Public Library’s summer reading program is here.
