We are very pleased and fortunate to have gathered a wonderful group of experts for CCSC who will elaborate on and discuss with us the subject matter of classic cars. Please find below some back ground information on our speakers:

Prof. Dr. phil. Friederike Waentig, Professor for the Conservation of Wooden Artifacts and Modern Materials at the University of Applied Sciences Cologne. Beside working as a freelance conservator she was previously: Senior Conservator at the Art and Exhibition Hall,Bonn; Conservator at the Conservation Center Düsseldorf; Conservator at the Museum for Appied Art Cologne. She obtained her M.A. and Ph.D at the Otto-Friedrich-University of Bamberg majoring in Heritage Preservation, with minor studies in folklore and building history and her M.A. from the University of Applied Sciences Cologne was on Conservation specialising in Wooden Artifacts.

Dr. Gundula Tutt, born 1967 in Stuttgart, is a conservator-restorer for historic vehicles. She studied art conservation at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart (ABKS) and worked as a freelancer on the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage (1996 – 2010). In 2002 she started to research on new methods to preserve historic vehicles in active use and took her doctorate on historic vehicle paint materials at the ABKS (2006 – 2014). Parallel to scientific research she works as a professional restorer for historic vehicles and is counseling private collections and transport museums (2005 to date). She took part in the development of the Turin Charter, an international guideline on preservation, restoration and responsible use of historic vehicles (adopted by the Fédération International des Véhicules Anciennes FIVA in 2012) and is board member of the Interessengemeinschaft Fahrzeugrestauratoren Schweiz to establish an officially recognized formation for restoreres of historic vehicles in Switzerland.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Herrmann graduated and gained his Doctorate in Automotive Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University. After a number of years in Automotive Industry he joined the University of Applied Sciences Cologne in 1999. As a Professor he is teaching and researching in the field of Car Body Engineering focusing on Lightweight Design, Motorsports and Historic Vehicles. Special Emphasis in his work is given to the Recreation and Reproduction of historic Car Body Structures and Panels as well as to Car Body History.

Michael Bock is the Head of Mercedes-Benz Classic and CEO of the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, which is one of the most fascinating cars museums worldwide. Having a technical and a commercial background he works for Daimler AG and its brand Mercedes-Benz since 31 years in different management positions and has a deep understanding of its history and its cars. Mercedes-Benz Classic has an archive about Mercedes cars from the invention of the car in 1886 till today, restores cars and manages the worldwide supply and reproduction of original spare parts for vintage Mercedes cars. Michael is a strong believer and supporter in originality and the cultural aspect of collecting and preserving cars and making their fascination an experience. 
 
Richard Keller is an historian specialized in the industrial era. He became in 2000 the curator of the biggest automobile museum of the world. He defend the idea that cars belong to cultural heritage, not only as technical item or design creation but also as social and economic dream towards mobility.  Therefore the preservation and  restoration of this heritage is not only a question of materials.
Publication of several articles and books. Among them, one illustrates the story of the automobile through two catalogues of the museum.

Scott Sargent is a native Vermonter who owns A 15,000 sq foot antique car restoration shop based in Bradford Vermont (USA) where they document, fully restore or preserve and maintain these historical cars.They specialize in pre-war French exotic, specifically the Bugatti marque. Having won Best of Show at Pebble Beach in 2003 with a Bugatti Atlantic, they continue to win class awards such as the French Cup award and the Enzo Ferrari Cup Award as well as winning Best of Show 2 years ago at Cavallino with a 250 Gto Ferrari. Scott also works for Gooding & Co as a specialist in the auction arena.

Andrea Dragoni, is a petrolhead who managed to turn his greatest passion into his job. Alongside his Mechanical Engineering studies he developed his interest in modern and classic cars in his tenure at Ruote Borrani R&D. Grandson of Eugenio Dragoni who led the Ferrari F1 team in the 60s’, Andrea is now Head of the restoration department and Project Leader for the modern fuoriserie at Touring Superleggera, the iconic coach building and design house based in Milano. He contributed a.o. to the Disco Volante, the 2013 Villa d’Este Concours winner, and led a number of award-winning restoration projects.

Paul V.J.Koot started his classic car business in the Netherlands in 1983. Specializing in coachbuilt Italian cars, his work brought him to Italy where he also got involved in prototyping and special car projects with Zagato. He was responsible for the revival of the Borrani wheel company in 2004, and the Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera in 2006. Having executed and surveyed more than 50 complete car restorations, he also offers his services since 2010 as international consultant and expert.  

Dipl.-Ing. Fritz Cirener, born 1966 in Dinslaken (North Rhine-Westphalia), is head of Automotive Tradition at the Robert Bosch GmbH. He took his master´s degree from RWTH Aachen after studying mechanical engineering with focus to automotive and plastics. He was in leading positions as head of strategic marketing in the aftermarket, head of worldwide Bosch Service organisation and of PMI and M&A projects. Since last four decades his private and professional life is very much driven by automotive topics and motorsports. He is part of several organisational teams for modern and historic rallyes and races such as Bosch Hockenheim Historic, Bosch Boxberg Klassik or DTM and responsible for historic motorsports at DSK- founded by Graf Berghe von Trips. He is member of the historic working group inside VDA and initiated and wrote the comprehensive market survey “An Economic Factor- Modern Classics and Historic Vehicles 2014” together with Mr. Heinemann- head of BBE Automotive GmbH.

Dr. phil. habil. Kurt Möser, M.A., born in 1955 in Memmingen (Bavaria), is professor of History of Technology at the Karlsruhe Instititute of Technology (KIT). He took his doctorate (1982) and master´s degree from Konstanz University after studying History and German Literature. He was DAAD-lecturer at the University of Oxford (1984-6) and Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi (1991-3). For twenty years he was curator for mobility culture at the State Museum of Technology and Labour in Mannheim. Möser is the author of numerous articles studies and books on the cultural history of technology, on mobility history and military history. His latest book of essays has the title "Grey Areas of the History of Technology".

Peter Kaus, collector. Peter rescued many former sports prototypes from the scrapyard in the 1960s and 1970s. It was common for racing cars to be discarded during that period. Subsequently Peter assembled a private collection of over 100 vehicles in Frankfurt over 15 years. He had planned to open a museum in Frankfurt to exhibit his collection, but the cultural office showed little interest. Therefore Kaus chose Aschaffenburg as the site and shifted his collection to the factories of a linen mill at the beginning of 1987. The collection opened to the public on 3 October 1987.

Philip Kantor, a British national from birth, Philip went to University College London where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree after leaving Public School. The archetypal collector and enthusiast he also has an avid interest in motoring memorabilia, fieldsports, sporting guns, watches, wine and cigars. Introduced to the auction scene at a young age due to his family's varied collecting fields, he has always enjoyed the auction process. He joined Christie's in 2000, he ensured the success of Retromobile's first sale in the newly opened French market with the sale of the Lüscher collection in 2002. Philip joined auction house Bonhams in 2007 and is International Director of Business Development and Head of European Motorcars.

Dietrich Hatlapa founded Historic Automobile Group International (HAGI) in 2007. Educated in Germany and Scotland (business & engineering) Dietrich spent 18 years working in finance, most recently as head of an Asian Equity Sales Team at Macquarie Bank and previously as Managing Director at ING Financial Markets and Baring Securities. He has personally been a collector of historic automobiles since the early 90s and he is an active participant in historic racing. Dietrich is the author of the comprehensive classic car market book ‘Better Than Gold: Investing in Historic Cars’, published in May 2011 and as a second edition in 2014.
