It's always fun - this year it's fabulous!
JUNE 25-28, 2015, downtown Evansville Riverfront will be bursting with excitement! There will never be a better time to Vist Evansville for a festival than JUNE 25-28, 2015! In addition to the standard festival offerings - rides, nightly entertainment, food, kids' corner - this year's SHRINERSFEST has an air show line-up that soars like no other air show!
The U.S .Navy Blue Angels, the Air Force F-16 Viper Team, the Canadian Snowbirds, the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight, the North American P-51 Mustang, and other bi-plane and vintage aircraft will entertain you. You can watch them rehearse on the riverfront as they arrive on Thursday and Friday; the performances will be on SATURDAY AND SUNDAY (JUNE 27 & 28).
Other activities include the Reenactment of the Invasion of Sicily starring our own LST 325 warship. Witness a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a scale reenactment of the Invasion of Sicily, featuring Allied and German forces. The LST will anchor in the middle of the Ohio River while the WWII aircraft patrol the skies. The Allies will land on the shore via Higgins boats to confront the Germans waiting for them. Reenactors from around the country are expected in the encampments set up along the riverfront. The drama begins at 11AM on SATURDAY, JUNE 27.
THURSDAY (JUNE 25), the gates open at 2PM with rides and food available. Bike Night will start at 5PM for motorcycle enthusiasts. FRIDAY( JUNE 26) begins bright and early at 9AM and features the popular classic car Cruise-In in the evening with over 200 vintage cars expected. Other events daily throughout the festival include the Ultimate Air Dog Show, an Arts & Crafts Show, and a street festival that will be full of fun! Nightly entertainment is ongoing each evening with beer gardens and live bands.
The cost for ALL of these activities, you ask? A button that costs only $7 per person, if purchased in advance, OR $10 at the gate. One button gets you in for all 4 days! The other good news - children 12 & under are FREE!
