FISHING SEASON HAS ARRIVED

Memorial Day Weekend has come and gone which traditionally marks the beginning of trout and camping season for many anglers. Even though the fishing season is year-round for most of us, lots of fisherman would consider now the time to fish... that's okay... we don't mind uncrowded waters and big, hungry fish the rest of the year ;) All joking aside, we are fortunate to be having some awesome days on the water lately. As most of you already know, the NF Coeur d'Alene and St. Joe are the places to be. Great wade fishing conditions has allowed everywhere from up high to down low accessible. Actually the NF CDA is almost too low to float without walking your boat through most riffles!

The Spokane River opens up next week below the Falls and is in great shape for the first week of opener. Caddis have been hatching since mid-May and salmonflies have been buzzing around too on warmer days. I would suspect the usual pat's rubber leg and caddis pupa to be a winner this next week, but don't rule out dry fly fishing on the river. I spent 75% of my Spokane River fishing time last year with dries and did quite well. Surprise, surprise... they are trout and they love to eat big chernobyls and caddis on the surface! Even during the daytime! Call us if you would like a guide trip down the river. The Spokane is a truly a gem of an urban trout fishery that often times gets overlooked.

BLOG:  RAIN DELAYS ARE FOR BASEBALL GAMES

Why did you buy your waterproof wading jacket? To fish in the rain duh! Bo and Mike's recent outing on the North Fork Coeur d'Alene River reminded me that I wanted to write this simple post about fishing on rainy days in North Idaho. Why? Cuz they crushed big cutthroat in this last Wednesday's rain. READ MORE

HOSTED DESCHUTES STEELHEAD CAMP TRIP W/ SEAN VISINTAINER - 1 SPACE AVAILABLE!

For a number of years now I have hosted an annual trip with Tom Larimer (Larimer Outfitters) on the Deschutes River in Oregon. The Deschutes is recognized as one of the world's best steelhead rivers with an endless amount of amazing water to fish. Tom is one of the original jet boat fly guides on the lower Deschutes and probably one of the finest spey casters / instructors / guides in the world. Not many people can match his attention to detail and knowledge of chasing steelhead with two-handed rods. If you are looking to improve your spey-game then this is the trip for you.

Tom and his camp host will take care of all the camp accommodations and food. Camp is pretty plush and let's just say you will not go home hungry!

*Note: The Deschutes is not an easy river to wade, so if you are unsteady on your feet this may not be the best trip for you. All the fishing is done while wading.
  • Trip Dates:  October 21, 22, 23
  • Price: $1650
