Trusting God with an Uncertain Future

Friend, we find ourselves in a difficult place once again.  By the end of this summer, Dan will have taught a total of three weeks during the academic year 2014-2015.  While we wrote in our last newsletter with excitement about Dan's upcoming teaching opportunities, we remain at a loss as to what Dan is to do with himself the rest of the year.  Much prayer and counsel has led us to believe that counseling and coaching one-on-one does not allow Dan to use his gifts and does not bring him joy.  And since formal teaching opportunities are scarce here, we are starting to wonder what the Lord's will is for our family.

The future looks uncertain to us, but not to our Heavenly Father.  What a comfort to know that the One who has each hair on our heads counted knows exactly what He has planned for us.  The way in which the Lord brought us together was so clearly a work of His hands (If you'd like to read our story, click here).  Therefore, we are confident that He who began a good work in us will be faithful to complete it until the day of Christ (Phil 1:6).  Thank you for your continued prayers for wisdom.

More Health Issues
Angie and Evangeline

Before moving to Senegal, we spent a year and a half in Quebec City, where Dan attended French language school.  During that period, Angie suffered two miscarriages.  This month, she suffered her third.  She's written about it on our blog.

As Angie was recovering, Evangeline came down with a staph infection.  It started as a little pimple, which looked like nothing serious.  Dan, however, is a cautious man and was quick to seek medical attention.  We are so glad he did, because we subsequently found out that a staph infection, if left untreated, can lead to permanent damage to the joint (in her case, the knee), and could even require long-term hospitalization.  Our pediatrician took great care of her, and we got her on two different antibiotics, plus an antibacterial cream.  She's on the mend, but because staph is very contagious and has a high rate of recurrence, we remain vigilant.  We appreciate your prayers for our family's health and heart at this time.
