Region 7 Sexual Assault Services (R7SAS) – Bonnyville

AASAS is thrilled with the addition of its most recent member, and newly formed sexual assault centre, in Bonnyville: Region 7 Sexual Assault Services.  Below are some words from their Executive Director, Cheryl Bujold.

Region 7 Sexual Assault Services (R7SAS) is excited to begin serving the North East regions of Alberta; providing services and programs to Bonnyville, Cold Lake, Elk Point, St. Paul, Lac La Biche, First Nations Communities, and Métis Nations.

Our goal is to provide survivors of sexual assault and sexual abuse and their families the counselling, treatment services and support necessary for them to move through the healing process to recovery.  Additionally, we aim to serve our communities by offering information and education on the many issues of sexual assault and sexual abuse.

We achieve our goals by: 1) offering specialized counselling support and psycho-educational information, 2) delivering educational resources to the community by offering information, consultations, advice and referrals, as well as specialized information sessions, 3) creating outreach services that are accessible and available to our clients, 4) supporting and helping clients navigate through the police and criminal justice processes, 5) advocating for clients by promoting inter-agency communication and information sharing, and   making  necessary referrals; and, 6) building a volunteer program that provides meaningful opportunities for community members to become involved in building awareness about sexual assault and sexual abuse
