A belated mystery run report from April 26
Straight after the Mystery Run Phil had to prep for a Military Conference in the Blue Mountains. Now that he is back from slumming it at Leura's Fairmont Resort with 250 ADF others, he is able to report that on Sunday 26 April a group of 10 hardy and curious Bears braved drizzle, hail drifts and a sticky wicket to complete the approx 8km ANZAC Centenary Mystery (and history) Run. The tightish group, including an injured Sharon (IED on track?) monitored by Derek of the Irish Hursuiteers at the rear, ran (stealthily and mysteriously) past circa WWI-contemporary icons such as 1916 Taronga Zoo (via the Great Steppes of..), with difficulty up ("The Bastard") David St, then via the 1913 Drill Hall,Rawson Hillock lookout and then the 1916  hospital, before returning via Kelvin's Corner, through the back o' Balmoral Oval bush..to a warm tea and ANZAC bikkie reward. Well done troops!
