Here I am with the Moon! This photo was taken at the Readers Studio in NYC last month (the biggest tarot conference in the world).

This newsletter is arriving a little later than usual, but in the world of synchronicities, perhaps this newsletter is landing in your inbox at the perfect time. As it turns out I’ve been taking my own advice this month, from the Eight of Swords’ advice in my Tarot Reading for the Collective for May to ‘take it slow’ to the Card of the Month – The Star - with its advocacy for healing (more on The Star below). I have paced myself appropriately so I can move through these days with as much grace as I can muster.

I had quite a landing back in Sydney after my time in New York: I got a cold and then just as I started to recover I got food poisoning (I don’t get ill very often)! And through all this a friend was very sick and then passed away last week.

This friend and my partner had been good friends for 30 years, and so she was a part of the vigil at the hospital bedside. So I (we) are moving slowly and gently. I am grateful for wisdom of The Star card, a career that keeps me connected to life and a twice daily meditation practice that keeps me centred, so that I can still be present for and so happy to connect with clients, even when I have my own dark clouds to navigate.

As a result of the Readers Studio conference I am even more in love with my craft, and have already implemented changes that are deepening my work - one change being that there are always now at least 3-4 tarot decks on the table, and you get to choose which deck you want to use for your reading. There are more insights that I will reveal soon enough.

I had this big plan to blog like crazy when I got back and share with you all that happened whilst I was in New York. Which I still will do, however life had other plans for me, and so I prioritised differently. I have particularly loved being at work (when I was well enough) as it has kept me feeling normal, and ever curious about the strange and mysterious pathways of life.

So in lieu of more New York stories to come (it was a brilliant, mind-blowing, heart-opening trip btw), you can look at my Instagram page (it’s a public page and you don’t have to be on Instagram to view it) as I took a great many photos whilst I was there, with little stories attached to the photos. It's a mixed bag of tarot conference shots, city scapes, the arthouse hotel I stayed at and the cats who live at the hotel!

Tarot Card of the Month ~ The Star

For those who are reading this newsletter for the first time, every month I talk about the tarot card that appears the most in the month's tarot readings. Even though the cards will always have individual significance, a commonly occurring card can also have a say about what's going on for the whole community.

Ah, The Star, what a relief to see you in the room with us! The Star chronologically comes after The Tower - a card of great deconstruction that doesn't always have a good bedside manner. So when The Star turns up it is time to rest, soak in all that has unfolded and move forward gently, with care.

A walk with The Star is a walk with our hearts. Here is space for renewal and insight. I often associate The Star with healing and with having breakthroughs in loving our bodies, just as they are. I associate it with booking in for psychotherapy/counselling, and actually turning up to the session.

It's a welcome breath in a cascade of new events that are not be ignored in all their intensity.

It was hard to choose a small selection of images from my tarot deck collection as there are so many stunning Star images!

So for the ones I chose, I will now let them speak to you for themselves:

Estrella (The Star) from Gloria Calderon's Los 22 Arcanos del Tarot says, "Come to the river and be healed! Try not to think too much about what has happened or what could happen, just allow yourself to be soothed right now. Gather your strength and walk with me."

The Star from Karen Kuykendall's Tarot of the Cat People says, "Behold! The levitating cat! And if this were a metaphor I would say don't be afraid to reveal yourselves, no matter what state you find yourself in. Dress resplendently and carry on!"

Initiation (The Star) from Isha Lerner's Triple Goddess Tarot says, "Breathe in the night and breathe in the day, slowly and deeply. Take rest where you can and walk at your own pace. Don't let anyone rush you into any decision. You are walking to a different tempo now, and it is no less powerful than the pace of others around you. Claim your space."

And Star from Ellen Lorenzi-Prince's Tarot of the Crone says, "Come into my embrace my darlings, without fear. I have big secrets to share with you, and to understand what I say you will need to allow your hearts to be cracked open. Let me in and allow me to teach you how to be at peace with the mystery."

And with that, I bid you farewell for the month. Walk well with Star,

Best wishes,
Sarah Barry (Psychic Sarah)

P.S Want more tarot stories? I post a Tarot Reading for the Collective on my website every month.

This month I used The Gorgon's Tarot by Dolores Fitchie. I bought this deck at Readers Studio - another round deck, and so large! Read on for ideas on how to be visionary subversives!

[I generally post the Tarot Reading for the Collective in the first week (or so) of every month.]

My office is upstairs from Suzy Spoon's Vegetarian Butcher, 22 -24 King St Newtown, corner of King & Queen Streets.

You are more than welcome to hang out in Suzy Spoon's café before and after your reading. In fact, I highly recommend it - the food is amazing!

Estrella (The Star) from Los 22 Arcanos del Tarot by Gloria Calderon. This is a limited edition of woodcuts by a Venezuelan artist. I bought this deck at the Readers Studio from Mary Greer (cue fangirl moment!)
The Star from Tarot of the Cat People by Karen Kuykendall. This deck is now usually on the table for you to choose from in a face-to-face tarot reading. It's a popular choice - even for those who say they aren't cat people!
Initiation (The Star) from Triple Goddess Tarot by Isha Lerner, artwork by Mara Friedman.
Star from Tarot of the Crone by the wonderful and magical Ellen Lorenzi-Prince. I met Ellen at the Readers Studio - she was one of the three main presenters. She is exceptionally talented and I highly recommend her decks, they are all very powerful.
Psychic Sarah's Tarot Reading Room
Where the face-to-face, Skype and email readings take place. :-)
I make and sell my very own delicious blend of chai tea - Psychic Sarah's Queen of Cups Chai. I personally select, grind and blend the spices and package every single packet of chai.

1 packet of 220g chai costs AUD$20, and will make you at least 48 large cups of delicious authentic chai tea. (That's 16 litres of chai - have a party!) Read a review about it here.

You can drink a pot of my chai in-house and/or purchase a packet to take home with you at Suzy Spoon's Vegetarian Butcher, Newtown, and Petty Cash Cafe, Marrickville. Or you can order it online - I ship all over the world!
