Community Forest Benefits
Nearly $1.4 million was distributed to City of Powell River and community organization projects from Powell River Community Forest Ltd.’s best year of harvesting.

Lower North Thompson Summer Interns Update: Students have already engaged in a number of activities on the community forest including planting quality inspections and regen surveys,  painting harvest boundaries and layout.

Summer Interns at Cortes Community Forest
Interns arrived from UBC the same week that the first harvest was getting underway on the community forest. They are busy learning the lay of the island and have been part of engineering a small harvest block. They have assisted with building a box culvert for a fish stream crossing, and worked on getting the CFA  maps loaded on their mobile platforms. They have also met the community forest general partnership board as well as the Coop board, and participated in the safety and operational start-up meeting on the first day of operations. By all accounts students and community forest hosts are pleased how things are moving along.
