Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program Begins at North Valley!
Appointments (406) 863-3679; Information (406) 863-3570
Cardiac Rehabilitation is an individualized and personalized treatment plan following a heart attack, angina, heart surgery or other heart disease. It includes evaluation and instruction on physical activity, nutrition and healthy lifestyle.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a service designed for those who experience lung problems such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, bronchitis, lung cancer/lung cancer surgery and other pulmonary diseases. It helps you improve your quality of life. Although Pulmonary Rehabilitation cannot cure your lung disease, it can be of great benefit and you may notice improved breathing effort and less breathing problems.

A physician referral is required to participate in the program. For more information, call the NVH Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Manager at (406) 863-3570.

To make an appointment, call the NVH Scheduling Line at (406) 863-3679.

Montana Dragon Boat Festival
September 12 and 13
Join the Healing Dragons at this year's Dragon Boat Festival at Lakeside! The venue has changed, but the charity this fun event supports has not! Did you know breast cancer is the most common cancer among Montana women? Yet only 49% of females over the age of 40 here in Montana receive screening mammograms! This is well under the national average. Save a Sister initiative is a collaboration between Kalispell Regional Healthcare, Flathead City-County Health Department and North Valley Hospital to promote breast cancer awareness.

Quinoa with Roasted Garlic, Tomatoes and Spinach
Do you have a bunch of tomatoes, spinach and garlic from your garden laying around begging to be used? This is the perfect Fall recipe to use for Friday company or a quick meal addition on a weeknight.

Quinoa contains more protein than any other grain, and has a nice crunch. It's cooked and eaten like rice. Be sure to give it a good rinse before cooking, or it may have a slightly bitter taste.

INGREDIENTS:
1 whole garlic head
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/2 cup uncooked quinoa, rinsed and drained
1 tablespoon dry white wine
1 cup fat free, less-sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup baby spinach leaves
1/3 cup chopped tomato
1 tablespoon shaved Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon salt

PREPARATION:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Remove papery skin from garlic head. Cut garlic head in half crosswise, breaking apart to separate whole cloves. Wrap half of head in foil; reserve remaining garlic. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, cool 10 minutes. Separate cloves; squeeze to extract garlic pulp. Discard skins.
3. Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and red pepper to pan; cook 1 minute. Add quinoa to pan; cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add wine; cook until liquid is absorbed, stirring contantly. Add broth; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes or until liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat; stir in garlic pulp, spinach, tomato, cheese and salt. Serve immediately.
