Focus on our Self-guided Walking Holidays:
Our Independent Walking Holidays are carefully developed to give the customer an authentic and memorable experience throughout their walking break. As part of their development, we check all footpaths and trails for suitability. We might abandon the use of a well trod byway because the hedges are too tall to allow for any views, for example.
In the UK every other field seems to have some footpath or other, so it is important that we check all routes. Because a path is on a map doesn't mean it will be easily navigated or that it is ever used.
For the UK holidays, we provide walkers with OS Explorer 1:25,000 maps marked out with their route; in France we provide the French version of this which are the Top 25 series of IGN maps. To accompany the maps we provide comprehensive walking notes to ensure that you find your way with little effort leaving you free to enjoy your surroundings. The walking notes are also designed to enhance your walking experience, giving you information on anything from the flora and fauna to the historical and geological background of the region. In other words, whatever your interests there will always be something waiting for you to discover. We wish to give our customers a great holiday experience and not just a rehash of a long distance trail. Not that we are against using the Long Distance Footpaths and routes, it's just we're not a slave to them and wish to add value with the 'High Point Holiday' experience.

What
If you're not sure where you want to walk, then have a think about what you're interested in seeing or experiencing. Some of our holidays are categorised:
coastal trails - mountain walking - wine trails - off the beaten track
This only covers some of our holidays. Other interests well covered include medieval villages, wildlife and waterfalls and lakes. On our website our holidays have summaries that give you a very good idea of what to expect from each holiday.
But if you are in any doubt about which holiday covers your interests and expectations, then please do ask

Where
Our holidays are all about experiencing the best a region has to offer and there's no way better to experience the countryside than on foot.
Every region of France can offer something different to enjoy, whether that's the cuisine or the architecture. For example, the Alsace is known for its pretty half-timbered houses and it's dry riesling wines.
The history as well as pre-history has shaped the landscapes in which you can walk. You can visit the monumental Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England or the rock engravings or cave paintings of the Mercantour or Dordogne and Lot Valleys in France.
