They experienced everything from exploring a one room school house, interacting  with original tools and gadgets in a homestead, playing early American games, blacksmithing, woodworking and exploring barn animals a pioneer village! It was our 4th grade Social Studies curriculum coming to life before our eyes!

Fifth graders recently enjoyed a tour our State Capitol building in Olympia where they were filled with facts about our state government, the history of the building and even had a chance to conduct a mock trial.  It gave the students a glimpse into the process of where laws are discussed and approved and how their voices are represented.

ArchiTech Night was a Huge Success!
This year about 100 students participated in the 2nd Annual ArchiTech Night! Play Well provided mountains of Legos and fun Lego challenges that captivated busy builders. (Play Well offers many different Lego Summer Camps!) Many students brought computers and tablets to show off their Minecraft building skills, and a few were brave enough to play on the big screen.Students also submitted Famous Building display boards that were just amazing, showing great research skills and creativity. We received several advanced project boards as well that were practically professional.

No PTSA event works without a lot of help. Extra big thanks to our parent volunteers: Ann Hendricks, Susan Nguyen, Eric Dawson, Rina Chowdhury, Jason Morse, Jyotsna Gundala, Anusha Varadarajan, Miae Aramori, Alyson Dawson, Aravind Swaminathan and many other parents that helped out. Special thanks to Michael Lampi who lent us his projector, even though his students graduated from Spiritridge long ago.

This event is still a new one that could grow in number of different directions. Please share your comments or suggestions to academicchallenge@spiritridge.org.

Food & Friendship Night - Great Turnout!
Thanks to the many families who participated in the Food and Friendship night last week. It was great to have such a diverse group of participants sharing ideas and feedback.  The organizing team is compiling feedback and looks forward to creating more ways to connect with our fantastic commUNITY.  If you were unable to attend but have some thoughts on improving family connections with Spiritridge, please email community@spiritridge.org.

Spiritridge Staff Support Statewide Effort

Our Spiritridge staff, along with some parents, spent their Wednesday afternoon raising awareness for the state funding deficits to support public schools by participating in a district wide walk out.  We appreciate Bellevue School District's commitment to student education and their approach to support the walk out during non-instructional hours.
Thank you, Spiritridge Staff for your enthusiasm and advocacy!
