2015 Summer Gift Box
Summer is picnic time up here in Vermont, where we'll take a meal al fresco any chance we get during our short but glorious growing season. You too can be picnic-ready with our 2015 Summer Gift Box, featuring three cave-aged cheeses paired with dry-cured salami from charcutier Pete Colman of Vermont Salumi. Pete learned his trade in Italy before returning to Vermont and developing a line of world-class, small-batch fresh and dry-cured pork products.
Each Summer Gift Box includes:
- Landaff (8 oz). Made with raw milk by Deb & Doug Erb of Landaff Creamery, NH. We age this caerphilly-style cheese in our caves for 4-5 months, at which point it has a beautiful gray rind resembling felt, and a golden yellow interior that's sliceable yet creamy on the tongue. Landaff is bright and yogurty, with toasty and browned butter flavors. Melts like a champ.
- Bayley Hazen Blue (8 oz). Our signature raw milk blue cheese, made by Jasper Hill Farm. Bayley is full-flavored but mellow as blue cheeses go, with a creamy texture and sweet flavors that edge toward dark chocolate and anise spice.
- Willoughby (8 oz). A seasonal washed-rind cheese made by Jasper Hill Farm in the spring and summer months. Sweet and buttery, with meaty and fruity notes that add complexity to this mild, soft cheese.
- Vermont Salumi Red Wine & Garlic Salami (4 oz). The newest creation from charcutier Pete Colman of Vermont Salumi! The perfect size for a picnic or to accent a cheese plate. The flavor is savory and peppery, with a great texture that's best sliced thin.
