While some people are relaxing at the beach or around the house this summer, Chuck Robinson of Village Books will be biking 2400 miles from Washington state to Illinois. As if that feat isn't enough, he's also doing it for charity. Binc is very honored to be one of the three charities Chuck chose to be the recipients of funds raised through this ride. Read more>

May Was a Busy Month of Assistance May began quietly enough, but by month's end Binc had assisted five booksellers and their families through a variety of hardships. A cancer diagnosis for one member of a bookselling family, and pending eye surgery for another teamed up to create a financial hardship. Binc was able to step in and get the household current with housing and utility expenses. The family can now focus on getting better and not have the added worry of losing their home or having the utilities shut off. After a lengthy divorce, a bookseller's home was facing foreclosure. The bookseller and two children had found another affordable apartment, but lacked the amount needed to move. With a grant from Binc for rent and utility assistance, the family could begin their new life in their new home. Security deposits for an apartment and utilities were the only thing preventing a bookseller from leaving a potentially dangerous living arrangement. With Binc's assistance, the bookseller can relocate to another state and resume their life. None of this assistance would be possible without our wonderful and generous donors, who make theses life changing grants possible. Not a donor yet, click here to add your support.
Wanda Jewell, Facebook Diva Recently a normal Friday took an exciting turn as we noticed our Facebook "likes" were rising and rising and rising. We had not posted anything out of the ordinary and knew of no reason for the sudden burst of activity. Some sleuthing by Penny turned up the origin of this phenomenon, none other than Binc BOD member and SIBA Executive Director Wanda Jewell. Wanda had "invited" her followers to "like" the Binc page. AND THEY DID! Before the day was out more than 130 had clicked.
We had been trying to break the 1,000 milestone for months and Wanda accomplished it in one afternoon. The page is currently at 1,056 likes and growing! Thank you to Wanda!
If you have not "liked" our page, you can do it here. Or take Wanda's lead and invite your friends. Simply visit the Book Industry Charitable Foundation's FB page and click the "Invite Friends to Like This Page" feature on the left side of the page.
