Kind Friends,
On these long summer days and evenings we invite you into the cool soothing energy of Banyen. Explore the beautiful thoughts of cultural creatives of all flavours (classic and contemporary), meet up with that book that speaks to the questions you are asking in your life, or that resonates with your heart's journey now. Perhaps pick up a live green drink at one of the two new fresh drink shops (The Green Moustache and The Juicery) in the neighbourhood, and continue to explore....
We'd love to hear what books are inspiring you this summer. Share your favourite book recommendations of the summer here on facebook. Your name will be entered into a raffle to win a $50 gift certificate for Banyen.
Here is a link to our new interview with meditation teacher Sharon Salzberg. Sharon Salzberg will be offering a talk and day-long teaching on lovingkindness meditation this Friday & Saturday at SFU Woodwards. Click here for the event details.
This Sunday, July 5, Tania Fierro will offer a free presentation at Banyen on The Work of Byron Katie. It will be an informative and experiential dive into Katie's powerful practices for compassion and wisdom. Also, for those wishing to go deeper into the practice, Tania will be starting up her next year-long immersion course in The Work of Byron Katie this September.
Our spring-summer issue of Branches of Light is just out, with almost 200 new titles and reviews. View it online here, or send us an e-mail or telephone and we will mail a printed copy to you. Or drop by the store and pick one up!
May the Golden Essence of Being put a great smile on your face, and a lovely lilt in your dance this month...

The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
As an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honourably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
~ Rumi
