Artisan’s Kitchen and Dance Studio

An extensive renovation breathes new life into this 1906 built home in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.  Combined with the previously completed dance studio, this renewed home harmoniously frames a landscaped courtyard.  Glassy, light-filled spaces now look out to a colorful garden, providing a tranquil retreat within the city.

Home to a creative artisanal baker, this renovation celebrates her joy of baking with a remarkable sun-washed kitchen.  A chalkboard wall for measurement notes, built-in filing cabinets, glowing glass pantries, and ample counters make this a delightful space for any recipe.

The enclosure of this newly formed courtyard is created by a small dance studio opposite the home.  From the courtyard, the studio’s scale is a pleasant illusion; it sits atop a full height garage completely hidden from view. We will be featuring the dance studio, also designed to function as an accessory dwelling unit, in a later newsletter.
