The time for solidarity is now


The Greek government has won some more time, but the hardliners in the EU, IMF and partners seem intent on destruction. 

Anti austerity leaders in Greece have called for an international week of solidarity, backed by the world's leading economists and a major enquiry to uncover the truth about the debt is underway.

Plea for sanity and humanity


Leading economists, including Professors Piketty and Stiglitz have written to the FT in a final hour plea for economic sanity and humanity in the Greek debt talks. 

In the letter published 5 June, experts calls for an end to Greek austerity being demanded by the EU and partners and explains how a positive plan for rebuilding the Greek economy benefits us all. Read more. 

Global Action 


Syriza has called for an international week of action in defence of Greece. Read more

In the US, the Solidarity of All movement in Greece are touring to build support. Read more

Debt Truth Inquiry


The first report from the Debt Truth Committee will be published 19 June. This is a special committee of the Hellenic Parliament set up to carry out a public investigation and audit into public debt in Greece.  Read more

The campaign in Europe


Zoe Konstantopoulou – the Speaker of the Greek Parliament - addresses speakers of all EU national parliaments, hosted by the Italian Parliament.  

She explains the impact of austerity policies, the truth about the public debt and the violation of democracy and human rights in Greece.

International bloc


The Greece Solidarity Campaign, International Peoples Assembly, Syriza UK and many more are forming an international bloc as part of the Peoples Assembly National Demonstration to End Austerity Now, 20 June.

Debt protest 23 June 


The Greece Solidarity Campaign along with Jubilee Debt Campaign and International Peoples Assembly are holding a Drop the Debt rally, Tuesday 23 June 6.30pm, Trafalgar Square.

Anti-debt campaigners are finalising an international petition on the debt that will be promoted on the day.

Leading Greek activist on R4 


Marina Prentoulis, spokesperson for Syriza in London spoke on Radio 4's Today Programme 25 May.

She described the efforts of the IMF, European Central Bank and partners to asphyxiate Greece and what this means for Europe.

Collective bargaining in Greece  


TUC Head of International Relations,
Owen Tudor, explains why Syriza is demanding the restoration of collective bargaining in Greece in the debt talks.

He sets out how this must be a shared struggle across Europe for stronger unions to for jobs, prosperity and economic development. Read more 

Victory to Greek Cleaners! 


In defiance of the IMF and EU the Greek Parliament confirmed the reinstatement of fighting cleaners, as part of a range of measures for the public sector.  

MPs from the former coalition parties, New Democracy and PASOK walked out before the vote.

Mohammed's struggle 


Anti-Fascist Action for Greece are campaigning for a refugee called Mohammed to stay in the UK. Mohammed was granted asylum in Greece.

As a human rights activist he was repeatedly attacked by members of Golden Dawn. In 2013 he fled to the UK where his claim for asylum was turned down. His appeal takes place 31 July.  Read more
