Alert - Superanuation and ACC

Hi <<Post code>>
We work with a number of industry associations, accounting firms and financial institutions to provide advocacy in the ACC space and we see our role as making your association  / professional firm aware of the issues and how they can be managed.
A current work programme we have undertaking is how those over 65 and who are still working are impacted by ACC.
Unfortunately those over 65 who are working only have access to a maximum of two years of ACC weekly compensation as per the following table.

Year One   Receive both Super and ACC
Year Two   Choose between Super and ACC
Year three onwards   Only receive Super and no ACC

We do not think this is fair and equitable especially given that those who are still working are paying their full requirement in ACC levies but yet get very limited benefit from this.
According to Statistics NZ there are a large number of over 65's still working as per the following 2013 data.

  Receiving a wage   87,801
  Self-Employed / Shareholders   57,294

The attached working paper gives you more context to the problem and the solutions and my reason for sharing this with you is two-fold.
  1. Make you aware of this and what we are doing about it
  2. To ask if you can share with us how many of your members are over 65 (assuming you collect this information)?
As per the attachment I am meeting with our legal counsel on June 11th regarding this position and will look to forward you an update on the back of this.
In the interim I am hoping you can share with me your associations statistic on over 65’s.
I welcome all questions and look forward to working towards another successful outcome.
Regards
Martin Wouters
