Staff Appreciation June Events
In honor of Alexa’s transition to a new role in the district, we are inviting the school community to write notes of gratitude and appreciation for her years of dedication to our school community. Notes can include a picture, a poem as well as words sharing how she made a difference to the life of a student. Completed notes can be returned to the collection box placed at the front office. Please mark your letter with your student’s name, teacher and grade. Notes can be submitted until Friday June 12th. These will be presented to Alexa before the end of the school year.
In addition, if you have favorite pictures of Alexa at school events, please feel free to send to

The Spiritridge Student Garden is ready to harvest!
Over the past few weeks, classes from Kindergarten, First and Second Grade have been coming out in the sunshine to visit the garden. Students have been observing bugs and sunflowers, sampling fresh spinach, helping to find ready radishes, releasing ladybugs as well as helping to water the garden. Thank you to Carleen Weebers and Sarah Engel for helping with classroom visits. Thank you to Mike Hill for repairing our garden sign. Next week, students in grades 1-3 will help harvest ingredients for a school-wide salad. The salad includes a variety of lettuce, spinach, kale, swiss chard, sorrel, radish, edible flowers and a mix of herbs. Questions?

Field Day is Friday June 19th
Finally, the event you've been waiting for, Field Day - A fun annual celebration at the end of our school year with all students, staff, and parents together. This is a super fun event that the whole school participates in to celebrate the end of the school year and the kick off to a fantastic summer.
It is being held this year on Friday, June 19th at Spiritridge. The event includes over 25 stations that the students cycle through. We need a lot of parent volunteers to help staff the stations and make this special day a success! Sign up
here to volunteer! The day will be filled with outdoor activities and relays.
We need your help with morning setup, afternoon cleanup and, most importantly, activity stations.
New Families Potluck June 19
The Spiritridge PTSA would like to invite all the New Families that joined Spiritridge in the last semester and all the incoming families for next year to a “Welcome Potluck” on Friday June 19th from 6-7:30pm in the Spiritridge cafeteria. To reach the cafeteria, please enter through the side doors on the right-hand portion of the building. Weather permitting, children may use the playground with adult supervision. Please bring a main dish. We are also in need of people to help with clean up (wipe down tables, sweep, put away tables), so if you are available at the end, please help. Feel free to pass this along to other incoming Kindergarten parents that you may know.
The potluck is a great place to meet other new families as well as current families with older kids. We will have an email sign up list so that we can arrange summer play dates. Looking forward to seeing you!
Seeking Panther Post Editors and Webmaster for Next Year
Join the Communications team as one of the Panther Post editors or the Webmaster for next year.
To help with publishing this newsletter, all you need is basic computer familiarity and an enthusiasm for sharing information a few hours every few weeks.
If you are interested in the Webmaster role, consider these guidelines:
- Ensure an integrated web site structure and consistent look-n-feel.
- Respond to any requests related to updates of the site, such as custom forms, page setup, user rights, event and news update and approval etc., and follow up with proper actions.
- Provide technical support on using the web site.
- Familiarity with HTML or a desire to learn is important.
- Significant time commitment August through October to refresh for the new year, and then significantly less.
These are both a great way to volunteer behind the scenes with a rotating turn at publishing the newsletter every few weeks. Email communications@spiritridge.org if you would like to participate or want to learn more.
