This year’s World Environmental Day with the motto "Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care" is a reminder of the shared responsibility we all have in using natural resources sensibly to ensure sustainability, peace and security. Environmental challenges can lead to tensions. Environmental co-operation, on the other hand, can contribute to building trust at all levels.
As part of its comprehensive approach to security, the OSCE has been supporting its participating States for more than a decade in implementing the UNECE Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention), and the establishment of a network of 59 Aarhus Centres in 14 countries.
These Centres serve as a bridge between the government and citizens in addressing environmental issues, and work to raise awareness and promote public participation in environmental decision-making and building a sustainable future.
In this issue of OSCE LINK, we invite you to learn more about the work of the Aarhus Centres in the OSCE region.

What are the Aarhus Centres?
The Aarhus Centres provide platforms to engage citizens, governments and the private sector in a dialogue on environmental challenges. Access to information, public participation in environmental decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters are the pillars of the 1998 Aarhus Convention. They are also the basis for the work of the 59 Aarhus Centres operating in 14 countries in the OSCE area. Check out our new page to learn more
